Tamberly Thomas Art

I began painting watercolors in 2000 and  studied in Houston, Texas with Gerry Finch for 2 years.  She taught me how to use watercolors and the basics of color theory.  She also shared with me  the importance of originality and working from my own ideas and source material.  In 2002 my family moved to Albany, Texas and I began painting longhorns and cowboys and the beautiful iris’ that grow so well here in north Texas. I developed as an artist during 2003-2005 by painting almost daily.  In 2005 I illustrated “Wind Tales” about the history of wind power around the world.  This spring I studied with the nationally known watercolorist, Judy Morris, in Houston.

I have painted in oils and pastels, but I prefer the transparency and mobility of the watercolor on the paper.  I believe the papers and paints have developed to the point where a watercolor painting framed with archival materials can have the same life expectancy as an oil painting.
